Martha Frances "Nanny" Gibson, 89, passed Feb. 11, 2012 at Plaza West, Topeka, KS. She was born March 25, 1922 in Canden, Arkansas, the only child of Will and Ola (Barnes) Carter. Ola passed when Martha was 5 years old. Martha retired from Public Storage as a relief manager and worded at the China Inn. Nanny enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing Bingo and was a huge KU basketball fan.
Martha is survived by three children, Bobbie F. (Paul) Evans of Topeka, Theresa F. Starkebaum of Carabondale, Kenneth F. (Gina) Jones of St. Joseph, MO; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law Tonyia Jones of Tennessee.
She was preceded by her parents; a son William F. Jones ( 1978), a daughter Wanda F. Schultz (2001) and son Henry F. Jones (2007); Sons-in-law, Michael Schultz (1999) and Larry Starkebaum (2010); special son, James "Jeep" Evans (2010); and her great-granddaughter, Danyale Jones.
A memorial service will be held at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service Chapel on Feb. 18, 2012 at 10:30AM. Visitation will be held for 30 minutes prior to the service. The graveside inurment will be held at Abilene Cemetery, Abilene, KS on Feb. 18 at 2:00PM.
