Martha "Marti" Fairbank, 65, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015, after a very brief illness.
Marti was born March 25, 1949, in Topeka, to Kenneth G. and Eloise Keller. She graduated from Topeka West High School, attended Kansas State University, and graduated from Washburn University.
Marti married Marvin Fairbank August 22, 1970. Marti was a devoted mother to their son Dan.
Known as "Nanny" by her grandchildren, her love of her grandchildren was unmatched by anything else in her life. Marti loved planning trips and traveling with her grandchildren to Washington DC, New York, Boston, and Denver.
Marti was a voracious reader and avid sports fan, including K-State football.
Marti was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and grandmother. Blessed with a good sense of humor, she also took life straight on with determination and spirit. She will be greatly missed by those that shared her life.
She was known as a steadfast friend to many. Marti is survived by her husband of 44 years Marvin Fairbank, their son Daniel (Katie) Fairbank, grandchildren Sally, Robert, and Susanne Fairbank, and her brother Frank (Carolyn) Keller.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2015, at St. David's Episcopal Church, 3916 SW 17th Street, Topeka.
A reception will follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Washburn Rural High School Softball Program.
Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, Topeka, is assisting the family with arrangements.
