Marvel E. Decker, 75, of Topeka, formerly of Dennison, KS died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at her home. She was born September 30, 1936 in Topeka, the daughter of Allen H. and Virginia (Hund) Osborn.
Marvel was raised in Topeka and Dennison, and graduated from Dennison High School in 1954. She worked as a records clerk for the State of Kansas. Marvel enjoyed her cats, collecting books, and reading. She was always attentive of the Kansas weather, and out of concern for their well being, acted as her family's personal weather radio.
Marvel is survived by her son, Frank L. Decker Jr. and his wife Linda; daughter, Patricia Decker; grandchildren, Jonathan Evenson, Vicky Evenson-Ortiz; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
A memorial service for Marvel will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 14 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. Topeka, KS 66606. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Private inurnment will be at Penwell Gabel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 NW Rochester Rd. Topeka, KS 66617.
