Marvene Janet Bargman, 90, Topeka, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023 at a local care center.

Marvene was born April 17, 1933 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Ernest and Margaret (Roeller) Renfro. She attended schools in Cynthiana, KY, Cincinnati, OH, St. Albans, WV, Overbrook, KS, and Topeka. She graduated from Topeka High School and attended Washburn University.

She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she served as Secretary/Treasurer, sang in the choir, and was the Editor of the League Monthly Newsletter. She was the Secretary of the PTL at Topeka Lutheran School; a Brownie and Girl Scout leader at TLS, Chairman of the Room Mothers and Director of Cheerleaders at TLS, and a Lutheran Den Mother at Faith Lutheran Church. She was a member of Ladies Bridge Groups and President of Kappa Alpha Theta Mother's Club at Washburn University. She was Chairman and member of Lake Sherwood Bridge Marathon and Owner and Manager of Marvene's Ladies Apparel in Holiday Square for 10 years.

She was a member of and then Chairman of the National Optical Laboratories Wives, a member of the Jolly Sixteen Bowling League and served as President of the Public Golf Course Ladies Club.

Marvene married O.R. "Bud" Bargman on June 20, 1954 in Topeka. He died May 15, 2012. Survivors include son, Kevin Bargman and wife, Jody, Topeka; daughter Cheri van der Feltz and husband, Lennard, Mesa, AZ; grandchildren, Clarisse, Francesca, Cassandra and Neil; sisters, Jean Stofko, Karen Plybon, Sandy Bauer; and brothers E.D. Williams and Robert, Randy and Kent Renfro . She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Ernest and Roy Renfro.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. A celebration of life will be held this summer.
