Marvin B. Vaughn, 79, Topeka, died on January 19, 2011.
Marvin was born May 31, 1931 in Stockton, to Harvey and Matilda (Tudor) Vaughn. He graduated from Washburn Rural High School.
Marvin served on the Topeka Police Department for 31 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant in 1987. Following his retirement, he served for 14 years as a Court Security Officer at the Federal Building.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #3, the Kansas Peace Officers Association and Topeka Lodge No.17 AF & AM.
Marvin married Mary Mathers on April 6, 1967 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include son, Jeffrey Vaughn, Kansas City; daughter, Dr. Vikki (Sean) Noonan, Boston, MA; two grandsons, Baker and Samuel Noonan; brothers, Leo H. (Shirley) Vaughn and Leonard J. (Sharon) Vaughn. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David A. Vaughn.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2011 at Highland Heights Christian Church. Inurnment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
