Mary W. Basgall, 94, Topeka, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 at a local care facility.
Mary was born August 15, 1927 in Mountainair, NM, the daughter of Curtis Lemuel Warner and Pearl Eunice Fitzgerald Warner. She attended High School in Brady, TX where she graduated in 1947. She attended college at West Texas State College in Canyon, TX, Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, TX, and Washburn University.
Prior to retirement in 1992, Mrs. Basgall was employed as a secretary at the Menninger Foundation from 1965-1969, and at Kansas Power & Light Co. from 1969-1973.
She married Virgil Francis Basgall on June 3, 1967 in Topeka. Her husband survives. There were no children. Other survivors are a sister, Wanda Harp, Decatur, TX; and brother, Bobby Warner, Childress, TX. Her parents; a brother Edgar Warner; and her first husband, Burgess C. Liles preceded her in death.
Her special interests, activities and hobbies were, Genealogy, Photography, Square Dancing, Bridge and other card games, Camping, Hiking, Bird Watching and Reading.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Southwest Christian Church, 5747 SW Huntoon St, Topeka. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
