Mary Belle Shinn, 85, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at her home.
She was born July 21, 1926 in Welch, OK, the daughter of Dennis and Katie Webb Alrid. She graduated from Chetopa High School in Chetopa, KS. Mary was employed by Blue Cross & Blue Shield for many years before retiring. She was a member of Lane Chapel CME Church.
Mary married John Shinn. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her four sons, Gary Dean Steele, Elmer Harding, James Harding and Richard Harding.
Survivors include two sons, Leonard (Saundra) Harding and Larry (Kay) Steele, Sr., both of Topeka, fifteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mary will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
