Mary C. Marsh, 93, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2010 at Brewster Place Health Center. She was born on August 5, 1916 in Anutt, MO, the eldest child of William and Rebecca Southards Callahan.
After the death of her father, the family moved to western Kansas and Mary graduated from Kanarado High School. She married Verle Kirby and they had two children; Allen Verle Kirby and Ruth Ann (Kirby) Mayer. Allen preceded her in death in 1992. Mary and Verle were divorced in 1950.
Mary attended Central Business College in Denver, CO and finished her degree at Washburn University in Topeka. She married Lowell Renberger in 1951, and they made their home in Topeka where he was minister of the Highland Park Christian Church. She was office manager of Schoonover Motors for 27 years. Lowell passed away in 1980. Mary married Ray Marsh in 1983. They were residents of Brewster Place Retirement Community and resided there until his death in 1994. Mary enjoyed her time at Brewster and stayed there for the remainder of her life.
Surviving members of Mary's family include her daughter; Ruth (Bud) Mayer of Kirksville, MO, her daughter-in-law; Darlene Kirby of Goodland, KS, three step-daughters; Carol Harness of Reno, NV, Janice Fordham of GA, Ruth Ann Weimer of TX, three granddaughters; Carol (Stephen) McKee of St. Charles, MO, Cally Krallman of Topeka, Wendy Bader of St. Charles, MO, two grandsons; Norman (Pat) Kirby of Goodland, KS, Kort Seigal of Kirksville, MO, seven great-grandchildren; Shawn (Linden) Kirby of Topeka, Mitch Kirby of Russell Springs, KS, Zachary McKee of St. Charles, MO, Davis and Jesse Bader of St. Charles, MO, Lacy Seigal and Cory Seigal of Kirksville, MO and two sisters; Evelyn(Winn) Gibbs and Iva Mails both of Salem, MO. Mary was preceded in death by five brothers and one great-grandson; Devin Seigal in 2007.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Private inurnment will take place in Havensville Cemetery, Havensville, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library, 1515 S.W. 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
