Mary Lou Holmes, 81, formerly of Topeka, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the Rossville Nursing Home.
Mary was born May 7, 1938 in Topeka, the daughter of Samuel L. and Glady's (Buckman) Holmes. She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1956.
She worked as an artist at Fort Riley in the art department before retiring.
Mary Lou was a lady of many talents. Her favorite past-times was carving, painting pictures and writing poems.
Survivors include brother, Bob Holmes; sister in-law Lois Holmes Topeka; and nieces, Denise Payne and husband Ed, Debra Dreher, Knoxville, TN, Sharon Higdon and husband, Jim, Dalton, GA; and a nephew Dennis Holmes, Topeka, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents;
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held at a later date and time to be decided when family members can get together. Burial will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery.
