Mary Jane Holt, 91, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at a local care facility.
She was born on August 26, 1926 in Richards, MO to Manual Edd and Blanche (Taylor) Guynn. She grew up in Paola, KS and graduated from Osawatomie High School.
She married Charles Holt on December 2, 1951 in Topeka, KS. He preceded her in death on July 29, 2000.
Mary Jane was a member of Topeka First United Methodist Church, and enjoyed being involved in various church activities.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, being active in the exercise classes at Brewster Place, and playing bridge for over 50 years. She was also proud to have been an officer of the Topeka Women's Club.
She is survived by daughters, Cheryl Ann Kerr-Hodgkinson (Robert), and Suzi Sides (Frank Bernatowicz); a son, David Holt (Elaine); 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Holt; and two sisters.
Mary Jane will lie in state from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka. The family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery, 1601 SE 10th Street, Topeka.
Memorial contributions may be made to Topeka First United Methodist Church, or to the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library.
