Mary Lou Kirwin

April 12, 1925 — January 6, 2019

Mary Lou Kirwin, 93, Auburn, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Homestead of Auburn.

She was born April 12, 1925 in Topeka, the daughter of Melvin and Averie (Cambell) McPherson.

She graduated from Topeka High School and Washburn University.

She was employed as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Section of the Colmery-O'Neil V.A. Medical Center

Mary married Emile Lahti Kirwin on December 4, 1942 in Lawrence. He died April 17, 2018. Survivors include a daughter, Cheri Marie Real-Hurt of Topeka; granddaughters, Jennifer Marie Kirwin, Terri Lynn Kirwin-Resnick, Rayne Tay Kirwin-Howell; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 2 sons.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Private burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wanamaker Seventh-day Adventist Church School.
