Mary L. Gardner, 78, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014. She was born May 5, 1935, in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Otto and Cora (Britton) Carnes. Mary was employed by USD 501 as a security guard at Highland Park High School for over 20 years.
Mary married Charles C. Gardner. He preceded her in death in 1979. Survivors include her five children, Floyd A. Gardner, Kevin Gardner, Lois Gardner, Loyce Ann Brewer, Pamela (Orgain) Williams, and seven grandchildren.
Mary was cremated. An inurnment ceremony will be held at 9:00 a.m., Monday, April 21, 2014 at Leavenworth National Cemetery where she will be buried with her husband.
