Mary 'Lucile' Rosenlund

Mary Lucile Rosenlund, 100, peacefully passed away on August 25, 2008. Lucile was born in Barnard, MO on the family farm to George and Stella Cole. She had a younger sister Bessie (deceased) and a younger brother, Bill Cole of Salina, KS. Lucile married Virgil Robison and in 1936 with their two sons, Gene and Dan moved to Topeka. Virgil died in 1954. In February 1963, Lucile married John Kirk (deceased in 1973). In 1977 she married a long time family friend, Thor Rosenlund. Thor passed in 1996 after 19 years of a loving, caring relationship.

Lucile brought richness to the lives of those who knew her through her love for music and her deep and abiding faith in the Lord. At the time of her death she was the longest living member of Central Church of Christ. She was baptized by emersion in the muddy 101 river in Barnard, MO on November 23, 1928.

Lucile was blessed by being raised in a musical family where she developed the love of the piano. Her entire life was spent teaching and playing the piano. A lifetime of music is the gift she leaves us. Faith in God and devotion to family are her legacy.

She is survived by son, Gene (Shirley) Robison, their children; Steve Robison, Michael Robison, David (Sandi) Robison, and great-grandson Damon Robison; son Dan (Sondra) Robison and their children Dan Robison, Jr., Jon Robison, D'Ambra (Martin) Gray and two great-granddaughters; Morgan and Katelyn Gray.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 30 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka. Mrs. Rosenlund will lie in state at the funeral home after 3:00 pm on Friday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
