Mary "Maxine" Mulligan, 89, of Topeka, passed away Monday, April 21, 2014.
She was born February 3, 1925 in Carbondale, KS, the daughter of Theodore Hall and Mary Lola (Robbins) McKibben. She was a 1943 graduate of Topeka High School. She was employed by Santa Fe Railroad and later she and her husband owned and operated Mulligan Transfer and Storage in Topeka.
Maxine married Robert W. Mulligan on December 6, 1943 in San Diego, CA. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2006. Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette (Michael) Lewis and Lori Shelton, both of Topeka; two grandchildren, Kevin (Brooke) Lewis, Olathe and Kyle (Allison) Lewis, Topeka; and four great-grandchildren, Brynn and Chloe Lewis and Abigail and Kendall Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Geraldine Donnelly.
The family will receive friends from Noon to 1 p.m., Thursday April 24, 2014, at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave, Topeka, and go in procession to Mt. Hope Cemetery for a graveside service. Maxine will lie in state from 4-7 p.m., today (Wednesday) at the funeral home.
