Mary Margaret Berglund Reichman

Mary Margaret Berglund Reichman passed peacefully away on May 25, 2008. She was born in Topeka, Kansas, on November 21, 1924, the second daughter of Gerhard Sixtus and Norla Forresta (Judy) Berglund.

Mary Margaret married Robert Hainline and was widowed 9 months later. She then married Ralph Wilbur Reichman on September 24, 1948. They had 3 daughters, Sheryl Ann, Gayle Dee and Susan Kay.

She graduated from Topeka High School, then worked for Stauffer Publications in the Capper's Weekly department retiring in 1989. She competed in and won a local beauty contest during her early years at Stauffer Publications. She was a lifelong member of Central Congregational Church.

Mary will be most remembered for her love of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and the children in her neighborhood, always stopping to wave and tell everyone "hi." Mary also loved her little dog, Sammy, who passed away a couple of years ago.

Preceding Mary in death were her parents, daughter Sherry Wolf and sister Ingrid Turk.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Gayle Stine and husband Mark; Susan Garretson and husband John of Topeka; seven grandchildren, Brian Schmidtberger (Teresa), O'Fallon Mo; Amber (Danny) Olson, Topeka; Corey Wolf and Karena (Wes) King, Arizona; Joshua (Chantel) Hartman, Jake (Danielle) Garretson and Jeremy Garretson, Topeka; and nine great-grandchildren; Ethan and Alex King; Kaitlin and Chelsie Olson; Preston and Gavin Hartman; Jacob Cooper Garretson; and Matthew and Luke Schmidtberger.

Mary will lie in state at noon at Newcomer Family Funeral Home with family visitation from 2-4 pm on Thursday, May 29. Funeral Services will be at 11:30AM Friday, May 30 at the Mount Hope Chapel with interment at Mount Hope Cemetery. She will be laid to rest beside her parents, Gerhard and Norla Berglund.
