Mary Marie Stanley, 90, Topeka, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 at the Peggy Kelly House where she had resided for the past 10 years.
Mary Marie was born May 29, 1920 in Dwight, the daughter of Lewis and Nettie (Johnson) Olson. She grew up on a farm west of Dwight and graduated from Dwight High School. She graduated from Kansas State College with a degree in Education and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
She taught Home Economics in Alta Vista and Circleville, Science and Art at Solomon Junior High, and served as Principle at New Cambria.
She was a member of the Eastern Star at Circleville and the Randolph United Methodist Church.
Mary Marie married Francis Dale Stanley on April 8, 1944 in Wichita. He died June 29, 2003. Survivors include daughter, IlaRose (Steven) Bosworth, Topeka; sons, Francis "Denis" (Mary) Stanley, Lake Perry, Franklin "Dale" Stanley, Manhattan, Lewis "Doug"(Norma) Stanley, Augusta; grandchildren, Tyler Duling, Masen Bosworth, David Stanley, Kristen Bourland, Allen Stanley, Nicholas Stanley, Michael Stanley, Adrian "Ty" Stanley, Laura Stanley, Jenny Jo Wassom, Jeremy Bennett; and 20 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Albert Olson and grandson, Billy Stanley.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at the Dwight United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Dwight Cemetery. Mary Marie will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road after 2:00 p.m. on Friday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
