Mary Van Dorn

Mary Ann Van Dorn, age 64 of Overbrook, Kansas passed away August 24, 2018. She was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on January 9, 1954 to Robert Anthony and Rosa Ann (Bechtel) Powell. Mary was raised in Emporia and graduated from Emporia High School in 1972.

She married William "Bill" Van Dorn on March 3 1973 at Emporia. Mary worked for USD 501 as a paraprofessional for over 30 years retiring in 2016. Mary loved her farm and family. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening.

Mary is survived by her loving husband Bill; her sons: Joseph Van Dorn of Overbrook and William Van Dorn II (Stephanie) of Topeka; 2 granddaughters: Adriana and Elizabeth; and her siblings: Elizabeth Welborn of Ormond Beach, FL, Robert "Bobby" Powell Jr. of Emporia, Teresa Nelson of Pierce City, MO, and Helen Powell of Emporia. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be held at Dove Cremations & Funerals-Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota, Topeka, on Saturday, September 1, 2018 from 2-3PM prior to the memorial service at 3PM.
