Max A. Larimer

Max A. Larimer, 87, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at his home. He was born on August 4, 1924 in Parson, Kansas to Evert and Wynona (Eversole) Larimer.

Mr. Larimer graduated from Cherryvale High School in Cherryvale, Kansas in 1942. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church, Masonic Lake Lodge No. 50 A.F. & A.M. of Silver Lake, Scottish Rite, Arab Shrine, Order of the Eastern Star Loyal Chapter No. 176, V.F.W. Post No. 1650 and the American Legion. Mr. Larimer enjoyed playing golf and traveling.

On August 15, 1945 he married Veda J. Richardson in Independence, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Shirley (Ken) Lomax of Davenport, FL and Phyllis Marleen "Marty" (John) Atkisson of Emporia; one brother, Ted Larimer of Green Forest, AR; one sister, Janie Ellis of Green Forest, AR; three grandchildren, Angie Burch, Bradley Lomax and Amy Atkisson; three great grandchildren, Will, Megan and Katie McLeod and his sister-in-law Meche Larimer of La Puente, CA. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernie and Silas Larimer.

A funeral ceremony with Masonic services will be at 10:30 am on Friday, October 28 at the Penwell-Gabel-Southwest Chapel. Burial with Military honors will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 27 at the funeral home from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Shriner's Children's Fund, C/O Arab Temple, 1301 S. Kansas Ave, Topeka, KS 66612.
