Maxine Williams, 75, Topeka, died Monday, July 10, 2006 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center surrounded by her family.
She was born Feb. 5, 1931 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of David and Ruth Strange Elliott. She was raised in Nevada, MO, graduating from high school there. She had lived in Topeka over 30 years.
She married Everett Lee Williams on Feb. 5, 1949 in Ft. Scott, KS. He was killed in action in Korea on June 2, 1951. She was also preceded in death by a grandson and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Stan Williams and his wife, Jeannie, Emporia, and her daughter, Verda Houghlan, Olathe; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Newcomer Family Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be in St. James Cemetery, Sheldon, MO.
