Melanie S. Moss, 39, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2007 in Lincoln, ILL.
She was born February 28, 1967, in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Blaine and Lois Moss and grew up in the Berryton area.
She graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1985, and attended Kaw Valley Vocational –Technical School. Melanie was a member of the Berryton Kiwanis, previously holding office of treasurer, and El-Shaddai Ministries Church of God in Christ. She volunteered for the Salvation Army, the Topeka Rescue Mission, and was involved with other mission work within the church. Melanie signed, and participated in the El-Shaddai dance team.
Melanie was a very generous and warm person to her family, friends, and was an organ donor.
Survivors include her mother, Lois Moss, Berryton, her sister, Pamela Crandall and her husband Al, Palm Harbor, FL; brothers, Dirk Moss and his wife Deb, Haven, Roger Moss and his wife Kayla, Berryton; nieces Sarah and Alison Crandall; nephews, Brandon Warner, Tanner and Jake Moss. She is also survived by a close friend, Corey Matson. She was preceded in death by her father, Blaine Moss.
Melanie will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., today, Monday, January 29, 2007, at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, this evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Berryton United Methodist Church, with private family burial to follow.
