Melissa L. Steinagel, 47, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016.
Melissa was born December 1, 1968 in Provo, UT, the daughter of Jerry and Nancy Martin. She graduated from Kouts High School in Kouts, IN in 1986 and Brigham Young University in 1991.
She enjoyed music and sports, especially playing, coaching and watching tennis and basketball. She was an active wife and mother and was passionate about her children. Melissa was an avid walker, enjoyed shopping, traveling and reading. She was a true friend to everyone she knew and had a compassionate, loving spirit she openly shared with everyone. Her love for family and friends and kindness to others defined her life.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Colly Creek Ward. She was an active advisor and leader in the church youth programs and enjoyed spending time as a youth teacher with the young men and women of the church.
Melissa married Michael Steinagel on August 11, 1990 in the Chicago, IL temple. He survives. Other survivors include their children, Kyle and Mikaela Steinagel, Topeka; her parents of Rogersville, MO; brothers, Michael (Andrea) Martin, Reno, NV, Matthew (Sunny) Martin, Cypress, TX; and sister, Julie (Joe) Knoth, Indianapolis, IN.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Colly Creek Ward. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
