Melvin Hipsher, 67, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born August 24, 1953 in Wichita, the son of Leroy and Joan (Knight) Hipsher.
Melvin was an 8 year cancer survivor. He worked at St. Francis Hospital for twenty years before becoming employed with ONE Transportation where he provided transportation through St. Francis Hospital/University of Kansas Medical Center - St. Francis and enjoyed his 15 years of employment there before retiring.
Melvin enjoyed guns, target shooting, car shows and watching Jeopardy. He also enjoyed taking pictures and spending time with his animals.
Melvin married Sally F. Hipsher. She preceded him in death in 2008. He later married Tegan R. Hipsher. She preceded him in death in 2021. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one son, Del Pierce and his two brothers, Don Hipsher and Arthur Hipsher.
Melvin is survived by four sons, Wesley Reed, Ron Reed, Jay Reed, and Tollie (Sharon) Reed, three daughters, Cathy Porter, Lisa (Robert) Curry, and Gina Cairo and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three brothers, David Hipsher, Charles Hipsher, and James Hipsher and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2021 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
