Merle Jean Mitchell, 85, Topeka, Kansas, passed away June 15, 2011. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service Chapel at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00AM.
She was born May 20, 1926 to Causby H. and Mildred E. (Lowe) Cole at Raytown, Missouri. She married Dean Wade Mitchell on Feb. 15, 1947. She was a homemaker and a secretary for Long Bell Lumber Co. She was an active member of West Side Christian Church and the D.A.R.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Jean Mitchell, Topeka, and 1 grandson, Ryan K. Goldsmith, Shawnee, Kansas. She was preceded by her husband, Dean and an infant granddaughter, Elizabeth Marie Goldsmith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Side Christian Church, 432 SW Lindenwood, Topeka, Kansas 66606.
