Mersina L. (Periori) Fluke, 83, of Topeka, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016.
She was born August 20, 1933, in Mytilene, Greece, the daughter of Konstantinos and Evdokia Periori.
Mrs. Fluke attended Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Topeka, and St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church, Overland Park, KS.
Mersina married the love of her life, Luther E. Fluke on January 20, 1960 in Athens, Greece. He survives, other survivors include their children, Robert "Pete "Fluke, Topeka, Maria (Jason) Cook, Topeka, Luther "Paul" Fluke, San Antonio, TX and George Fluke, Silver Lake, KS; nine grandchildren, Travis (Marie), Kali, Tristen, Kennedy, Tanner, Gracyn, Liam, Leia, Robert; three great-grandchildren Tyler, Kaylee and Addien; siblings, Pete Periori, Marina (John) Tsokos, Matoula Periori, her step-mother, Efstratia Periori, all of Athens, Greece; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mersina was a homemaker and provided day care for over 30 years, where she raised countless children as her own. Family was her life, and she loved with all her heart, a dedicated wife, Mother and friend. She was known for an immaculate home and for her amazing Greek food.
Mersina will lie in state after 3 p.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave., Topeka, where a rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8 p.m. A funeral ceremony will be 10 a.m., Friday, September 30, 2016 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka, KS. Interment will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka.
