Michael Lee Smoot

Michael Lee Smoot, 60, of Topeka, passed away Monday, February 13, 2023.
He was born December 12, 1962, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of Harold Lee and Lila Mae (Michaels) Smoot. He was a graduate of Topeka West High School in 1981. He served in the United States Army National Guard.
He was a member of Journey 4 Justice and was a team leader for Topeka 1. He enjoyed karaoke, singing weekly.
Michael married Bonnie Lou Smoot. She preceded him in death on June 3, 2018. Survivors include two children, Erin Glenn (Jason) of Topeka and Robert Smoot of St. Joseph, MO; step-children Teffanie Starks (Richard) of Topeka, Misty Peasgood-French of Topeka and Joshua Farris of Houston, TX; 18 grandchildren; his brother, David A. Smoot (Julie) of Topeka; his sisters, Cathy Bogia (Doug) of OR and Charlene Smoot of TX; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Bonnie; and his brother John.
A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 18th at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. The family will receive friends for an hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Randa's Ride, PO Box 205, Harvard, NE 68944.
