Michelle R. Smith, 64, Garden City, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022 at a Topeka care center. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
Michelle was born March 15, 1958 in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of Richard and Ilena (Eaton) Carpenter.
After her parents divorced her mother married Jess Garrett and moved to Garden City, Kansas. She attended school in Garden City, Kansas.
She was employed at Dillon's food stores in Garden City. She was a hard working loyal employee of the Deli for over 27 years.
She enjoyed bowling and playing softball. Friends and family knew her by her quick wit and all the funny memes she posted often. She was an avid collector of Mickey Mouse items and elephants.
Survivors include sons, Mikel (Melissa) Smith, of Topeka, Jeremy Smith and Scott Smith, both of Garden City; grandchildren Jacob and Emily Smith; and step-brothers, Jessie and Delbert Carpenter; and three half-sisters, Bridgette Williams Proskie, Cheryl Carpenter and Bridgette Bowers. She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 siblings. Richard and Gary, Carpenter, and Susan Toepka.
Cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
