Mieko Minei Wright, 60, Topeka, Kansas passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008.
Meiko was born December 10, 1947 in Okinawa. She grew up on a sugar cane farm where she helped her family. She enjoyed swimming and ran track in High School.
She was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church, helping in the nursery. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, attending grandchildren's ball games, and spending time playing with her grandchildren.
She worked as a seamstress at Lohman & Rauscher in Topeka and Burlingame.
She married a U.S. Marine, Donald Lewis in 1971. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1978. She married John Marvin Wright on October 8, 1986 in Lyndon, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include daughters, Kimme (David) Cowan, Chandler, AZ, Shirley (Curtis) Wheeler, Atchison, KS, Donna (Doyle) Robinson, Harveyville, KS; sons, Randy (Teresa) Wright, Tucson, AZ, Geral Lewis, Topeka; grandchildren, Skyler Lewis, Evan Wheeler, Samantha and Houston Robinson, Joshua Cowan, Kayla Wright, Elizabeth Cowan, Lauren Wheeler, Doyonna Robinson, Johnavin Robinson, Samantha Wheeler, Michael Wheeler and Casey Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Raymond Donald Lewis. She will be missed by all of her family and friends that loved her so much.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, 2008 at First Southern Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mieko will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday and visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
