Mike (Miguel) M. Almaguer, 86, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2006.

Mike was born September 29, 1919 in Topeka, son of Juan and Cipriana Almaguer. He attended Topeka Public Schools.

He served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942 to 1946 and was stationed in Burma, India. During his time of service, he was awarded the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.

After 28 years, Mike retired from Santa Fe Railroad. He then spent his pass time gardening, feeding the birds and squirrels, and tinkering with his car.

Mike was a member of American Legion Post #1.

He is survived by his sister, Reynalda Ochoa and was preceded in death by four sisters, Connie Adame, Rosario Almaguer, Helena Almaguer, and Cresencia Obregon; and two brothers, Francisco Almaguer and Salome Almaguer.

A private graveside service will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Newcomer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be sent to Heartland Hospice, 1033 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
