Mildred Mabel Boster, 95, of Wakarusa, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021.
She was born August 8, 1926, in Fredonia, Kansas, the daughter of Frank Andrew Lyon and Ruth (Foreman) Lyon. She graduated from Fredonia High School.
Mildred was a homemaker and owned her own floral business. She also wrote a column for the Harveyville Monitor as well as the Eskridge and Burlingame newspapers.
Through her membership in the Lakeview Church of the Nazarene she was the creator and chair of the Sunflower Widows as well as a leader of the Classics for 36 years. She was also a foster grandparent for the second grade children of Berryton Grade School. She and her husband were members of the Goodyear Retirement Club and the American Legion.
Ms. Boster was a charter member of Highland Park Church of the Nazarene (which became Lakeview Church of the Nazarene) and later a member of the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, all of Topeka.
Mildred married Harry Boster Jr. on January 5, 1946 in Independence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2008. Survivors include her children, Connie Rasmussen (Paul) of Wakarusa, Anita Rainey (Larry) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and Tim Boster (Kendall) of Topeka; grandchildren Matthew Kreger, Lara White, Lynn Rainey, Angel Brock and Elizabeth Boster; five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Garold Lyon. She was preceded in death by six brothers, five sisters and her grandson Timothy Boster II.
Mildred was very artistic and enjoyed crafts. She loved planning social events for her friends and family. She loved dogs, especially Chihuahuas.
A funeral service will be on Saturday, September 11th at 9:30 AM at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, KS 66614. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, September 10th at Dove Cremations and Funerals, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. Memorial contributions may be made to Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Road or Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
