Mildred Clark

Mildred R Clark, Topeka Kansas, passed away December 23, 2010, age 89 at
Midland Hospice House, Topeka, KS from complications associated with breast cancer.
She was born November 10,1921 in Claflin, Kansas as one of eight children of
George C. and Jennie Derby. The family later homesteaded in Haskell County and settled in Sublette, Kansas where she was raised and completed High School.

She married Harold E Chrispens in August 1941. One daughter, Marilyn R Chrispens (Dowse) was born to this union. Mr.Chrispens died in May 1960 from burns suffered from a butane explosion. While widowed, Mildred served as Clerk of the District Court in Haskell County for 6 yrs.
In May 1967 she married William L "Roy" Duver he died in January 1978. While she and Mr. Duver were married, they began spending winters in the McAllen, TX area.
She returned to the area after his death.
She married Adam T "A.T" Barlow in March 1979. She and Mr. Barlow sold the
property in Sublette, KS and took permanent residence in McAllen, TX area. He
died in March 1999.
Mildred then moved to Topeka, KS in May 2000 taking up residence at Thornton
Place Independent Retirement Living. Here she met and married Robert W "Bob" Clark in June 2001. They later moved to Fleming Place, then McCrite Plaza Retirement Apartments. Mr. Clark died in October 2005. She then moved back to Thornton Place where she resided at the time of her death.

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Chrispens) Dowse (Butch) of Topeka, KS, one grandson, Jason (Sue) Dowse, two great grandsons Michael Dowse and Nick Dameron.
Also survives is a sister, Ruby Davis (Ben), Sublette, KS. There are also a host of nephews and nieces from her siblings preceding her in death plus stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren from her marriages.

Preceded in death were her parents George C and Jennie Derby. Four husbands; Harold Chrispens, Roy Duver, Adam Barlow & Robert Clark. Five sisters and brothers-in-law; Pearl (Edmund) Wright, Opal (Dewey) Staton, Jean (Howard) Roland, Eileen (Cudge ) Armentrout, Fern (Sam) Hollopeter and one brother George C (Barbara) Derby. Also one grandson.

It was her desire to have her remains donated to the University of Kansas Medical Center for educational and purposes in the field of medicine.

A memorial service will be held at the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Rd,in Topeka Kansas December 30 2010, at 2:00 PM.
