Mildred L. Laird, 82, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2008 at her home. She was born on April 23, 1925 in Rogers, Arkansas, the daughter of Robert and Elma Hubbard Damron. She had resided in Topeka since 1950. She was employed by Dibbles Grocery and Harry's IGA as a meat wrapper and later was employed as a dietician by Santa Fe Memorial Hospital before retiring. Mildred married Loren V. Laird, Sr. They were divorced and he preceded her in death in 2006. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Bill and two sisters, Margie and Virginia. Survivors include three sons, Richard, Loren, Jerry and one daughter, Sharon, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and one brother, Max Damron. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 S.E. Minnesota Ave. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Mildred will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the Mildred L.
