Mina Reece

Mina Jane Reece was born on April 8, 1918, in Topeka, Kansas to Ernest J. Jordan Sr. and Ella (Childs) Jordan. She had four sisters, Ruth Jordan Powers, Lena Jordan Gay, Edna Jordan, Louise Jordan Miller and a brother, Ernest J. Jordan Jr. whom all preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Topeka High School and was an employee of the Topeka V.A.Hospital from which she retired in 1983. She was also a lifetime member of Capital City Community Church of God at which she served faithfully in her congregation.
Mina married James Reece and to their union were three children, Louise "Tootie" Reece Bruce, Barbara "Singie" Reece Mitchell and Marvin Eugene Reece and a step-daughter, Rosella Reece Gay, whom all have preceded her in death. She leaves behind to continue her good works, 13 grandchildren, Belinda Bruce Austin, Deborah Mitchell Jenkins, Wayne Darnell Bruce, Carol Bruce Lockhart, Daryle Tyrone Mitchell, Pamela Bruce Boyd, Cheryl Bruce Swopes, Tamela Mitchell, Mina Mitchell Versher, Yvonne Bruce Jones, Sherri Mitchell, Tiffany Bruce and Talisha Bruce. She also was blessed with 23 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great grandchildren.
She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and a multitude of others who just considered her and called her "Grandma".
Mina will lie in-state after 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home where a wake will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 23 at Capital City Community Church of God, 1191 SE 37th St., Topeka.
