Nadine Burgardt

Opal "Nadine" Burgardt, 83, of Tecumseh, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011 at Rolling Hills Health Center. She was born on November 4, 1927, in Whiting, Kansas, to Calvin C. and Gladys Belle (Priest) Wolfe.

Nadine graduated from Topeka High School in 1945. In 1954, she married Joseph J. Burgardt in Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1982. Nadine was an account clerk for the State of Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks where she retired in 1989. She was a member of Highland Heights Christian Church and past member of Oakland Christian Church, Tecumseh United Methodist Church, Oakland Church of the Nazarene and Community Church. She also completed the Menninger Bible Course.

Nadine is survived by her children, Robert A. Gilbert, Topeka; Deana Burgardt, Tecumseh; Carl Burgardt, Kansas City, KS, and Ron (Maxine) Burgardt, Belington, WV; one sister, Doris Smith, Great Bend, KS, two brothers, Gene Wolfe and Calvin Wolfe, Jr. both of Topeka; six grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Highland Heights Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery, Tecumseh. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at the church. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
