Nancy (Uphaus) Bennett, 67, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014. Nancy C. Aeschliman was born west of Sabetha to Chris and Golda (Brammer) Aeschliman on April 8, 1947. She attended National Grade School for three years, and then attended schools in Sabetha. She graduated from Sabetha High School in 1965. She graduated from Clark's Business School in Topeka in 1966.
She married Robert Uphaus in 1969. Two daughters were born to this union. They divorced in 1996.
Nancy served on the Board of the Elmont PTO and did volunteering at Elmont Elementary School and Northern Hills Junior High. She was a food leader for the North Pioneers 4-H Club.
She was employed at several law firms in Topeka, and until she retired for health reasons, had been employed at Larson & Blumreich, Chtd. for the past 11 years.
In June of 2005, she married Lloyd Bennett. He survives at the home.
Other survivors include her daughters, Kristin Kay Duncan (Jeff) and Sara Suzanne Uphaus, both of Topeka; four grandchildren, Josh and Skylar Duncan, Mena and Derek DiMarzio; two brothers, Eldon "Ash" Aeschliman and Glenn Aeschliman. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother Wayne Aeschliman.
Her grandchildren were the love of her life and she enjoyed every minute she could spend with them.
Cremation is planned. Per Nancy's wishes, there will not be a memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to the YWCA Center for Safety and Empowerment (formerly the YWCA Battered Women Task Force). An informal gathering for Nancy's close friends and family will be held at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Ave. in Topeka between 5:30 and 7 pm on Saturday, October 11.
