Nancy Ann Austin Mahan, age 71, died suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday, May 13, 2018 shortly after moving into the Lexington Place Assisted Living in Topeka. She was born November 17, 1946 in Orlando, Florida, the only child of Lucille Ellen and Calvin Wood Austin. Both of Nancy's parents are deceased. Nancy married the love of her life, Larry Douglas Mahan in July 1987. After twenty-one years of marriage, Larry passed away at their home April 27, 2008.
Nancy was a homemaker, an avid reader of all types of books, and loved classic movies. She leaves behind her four children: Laura E. Morris and her husband Mark of Peculiar, Missouri, Anne E. Zorn and her husband Thad of Peoria, Arizona, Jennifer A. Emerick and her husband Curtis Brown of Denver, Colorado, and Russell B. Emerick and his wife Kristin of Peoria, Arizona; two step children, Wendy Dixon of Lamar, Missouri and Errin Mahan of Topeka Kansas; seven grandchildren: Amanda, Abagail, Drew, Kennedy, Taylor, Dustin, Dakota and Cheyenne; and six great-grandchildren.
Nancy's wishes were to be cremated and her ashes placed with her beloved husband at Prairie Home Cemetery, NW 35th Street and Menoken Road, Topeka, Kansas where a graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on June 9, 2018. Friends and family are welcome to join in saying goodbye.
