Nelda "Jean" Dupler, 81, of Topeka, Kansas passed away May, 14, 2016. She was born March 25, 1935 to Winnie and Oscar "Doc" Whitney in Indiahoma, OK. She spent her childhood in Indiahoma. Jean married Roy Dupler June 17, 1951. During the early years of their marriage they lived in Oklahoma and Texas. In 1963 Jean, Roy and the children moved from Houston, TX to Topeka.
She worked in retail starting at Buttrey's clothing store in White Lakes Mall in the 60's, retiring from Ray Beers in 1993.
Jean was a fun loving woman who enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. We all have fond memories of the annual Christmas Eve gatherings at Jean & Roy's home. Jean never forgot a birthday sending cards to children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was an avid gardener, growing a wide variety of beautiful flowers in her garden. She loved to travel with her husband. She was also the family video game champ with her grandchildren calling her on a daily basis to find out how to get to the next level.
Survivors include her children: Vicki Looka Kansas City MO, Linda Dupler Lake Dallas TX, Terry Miller (Walter) Topeka KS, Randy Dupler (Pam) Topeka KS, Jana Deever (Greg) Topeka KS, 12 grandchildren: Buffy Stewart (Lee) Topeka KS, Kelly Gerhardt Topeka KS, Jeremy Mueller (Meagan) Mansfield TX, Jason Mueller (Mariel) Dallas TX, Wendy Deever Topeka KS, Joshua Looka Topeka KS, Greg Deever Topeka KS, Cassie Looka Wichita KS, Whitney Kreps (Danny) Lake Dallas TX, Jayme Deever Topeka KS, Amie Dupler Topeka KS, Ethan Dupler Topeka KS, 18 great grandchildren, sister-in-law & close friend Neva Whitney Lawton OK, brother Don Whitney (Mary) Albuquerque NM, a half-sister Judy Riggs (Mark) Dade City FL, four half-brothers: Sidney Mendenhall (Donita) Lawton OK; Robert Whitney, Charles Whitney and Ronnie Whitney all of Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, parents, infant daughter Glenda Faye, brother Gary "Dale" Whitney and half-brother Johnnie Mason.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
