Neva Jean (Baker) Washington, 90, passed away on February 11, 2019.
Jean was born on August 19, 1928. She was a lifelong Topekan, the only child of Eva and Harold Baker.
Jean graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1946 and immediately started working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Jean held positions throughout her career with Sewell Oil Company, J.R. Hess Chemical Co., Penn State, and retired in 1998 from Four Seasons Family Pools and Spas.
On March 21, 1948, Jean married Harry L. Washington, sharing nearly 64 happy years together. Jean and Harry had three children, Sandra (Gary) Barber, Galen (Diane) Washington, and Jane (Dick) Tilghman, 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband and two grandchildren. Jean will be remembered well, as devoted to her family, with much love, and will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
