Norma J. Quiett, (Heckel) 75, of Topeka, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Aldersgate Village. She was born September 6, 1939 in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of James and Irene Heckel.
Norma graduated from Topeka High School in 1958 and married her high school sweetheart, Richard "Whitey" Quiett on December 14, 1957 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on September 7, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ricky Quiett in 2010. Survivors include her daughters, Carrie (Marty) Stark of Valley Falls, Tracy (Wesley) Quiett-Wright of Scranton, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Flossie Dunlap of St. Joseph, MO, Francis Paschall of Topeka and Alberta Burnett of Indiana.
Norma worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for five years and decided to stay home and raise her children. She opened her home for other children as a Day Care Provider for 30 years. She was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church where she served on the Worship Committee for several years and also volunteered for the Food Bank and was a member of the Solo Group.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
