Norma J. Munoz, 73, Auburn, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2007 at a local hospital.
Norma was born December 4, 1933 in Endicott, NE, the daughter of Paul and Laura (Zubick) Compton. She grew up in Mahaska and graduated from Mahaska High School in 1951.
She was employed by the University of Nebraska where she met her husband. She married Tomas Munoz on July 18, 1954 in Mahaska. She and her husband traveled the world during his career in the U.S. Air Force. They have resided in Auburn since 1973. He survives.
Other survivors include her mother, Laura Compton; brother, Dwain Compton and wife, Patricia, all of Fairbury, NE; daughter, Cindy Johnson and husband, Roger, Topeka; son, Michael Munoz and wife, LaDonna, Scranton; 2 grandchildren, Hanna McCollum and Jared Munoz, and a great grandson, Dylan Foster. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Compton.
She was a member of The Diet Leaf Club, Auburn Helping Hands and First Presbyterian Church of Auburn.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker. Burial will follow in Auburn Cemetery. Norma will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Friday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
