Norma M. Wilden, 81, Topeka, formerly of Hastings, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.
Norma was born January 20, 1929 in Wymore, Nebraska to Delbert and Anna Morris. Norma was the fourth of seven children. Her parents, her sisters Ione and Audrey, and her brothers Richard, Dean and Gary preceded her in death. One surviving brother, Robert Morris, resides in San Jose, California.
On May 6, 1947 Norma married Robert F. Wilden of Owosso, Michigan. They were married for 62 years. Bob and Norma had seven children: Suzanne Nadeau of Topeka, KS; Robert Wilden, Jr. of Lee's Summit, MO; Dennis Wilden of Omaha, NE; Chris Lewis of Lakewood Ranch, FL; Lillian Hollingsed of Lincoln, NE; Pat Schneider of Topeka, KS; and Joe Wilden also of Topeka, KS. Norma is survived by her husband and all of her children, as well as 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Like millions of other Americans of her generation, Norma was raised during the Great Depression. The experience tested their strength and their resolve. It instilled in many an appreciation for the simpler things in life. Norma was an avid reader who loved playing cards and other games with her family and friends. A Master Gardener who eagerly looked to the renewal of spring each year, Norma received a special satisfaction from sharing the vegetables, fruits and flowers she grew. Loved by her husband and family, Norma will be remembered fondly and missed deeply.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Dove Cremation and Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Friday evening. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
