Pastor Norman K. Harvey, 84, Topeka, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014 at a local hospital.
Norman was born August 30, 1929 in Fairland, OK, the son of Charles and Bessie (Clark) Harvey. He graduated from Freemont County Vocational High School in Lander, WY, 1947 and Union College in Lincoln, NE, 1953.
He was a Seventh-day Adventist Pastor at churches in Rock Springs, Laramie, Torrington, and Casper, WY. He served in the financial administration of the Enterprise Academy in Enterprise, KS, and as Secretary-Treasurer in Jamestown, ND, Lincoln, NE, and Topeka, KS. He retired as Secretary-Treasurer with the Kansas/Nebraska Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Churches. In his retirement, he served the local church in many capacities including Church Auditor for the conference.
Norman married Thelma Kepler on August 19, 1951 in Des Moines, IA. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Cynthia Lane, Los Angeles, CA, Muffy (Dave) Kessler, Palm Bay, FL; grandsons, Travis Lane, Nicholas Mohr, Trevor Mohr; sister, Reba (Ron) Christensen, Petaluma, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters; and one brother.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Wanamaker Seventh-day Adventist Church or the Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
