Olen W. Liggett

Olen W. "Wes" Liggett, 89, of Berryton, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at a Topeka care facility. He was born June 21, 1925 in Topeka, the last surviving child of Charles and Laura Barker Liggett.
Wes graduated from Topeka High School and attended the University of Kansas. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. Wes was employed by KP&L for 40 years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of Topeka Lodge No. 17 AF&AM.
Wes married Margaret A. Oldham on July 7, 1951 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include one son, Curtis A. (Kathleen) Liggett of Berryton, one grandson, Drew, one granddaughter, Amanda and one niece, Deborah.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2014 at Mount Hope Chapel. Burial will follow. Wes will lie in state from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, KS 66604.
