Opal F. Young Reber, 72, of Topeka, died Thursday, December 23, 2004 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born on December 7, 1932 at Leroy, Kansas the daughter of William and Edna Piercy Young. She graduated from Leroy High School. She came to Topeka in 1949. She was employed by Hallmark Cards, Southwestern Bell and by Shawnee Heights Junior High School for 21 years before retiring in 1994. She was a member of Shawnee Heights United Methodist Church. She married John V. Reber on August 3, 1952 in Leroy, Ks. He survives. Other survivors include two sons, Michael J. Reber of Auburn and Mark V. Reber and his wife, Brenda of Topeka, one daughter Tammy L. Ribera and her husband, Felix of Marble Falls, Texas, seven grandchildren, Tena Dameron and her husband Dennis of Highland, Michigan, Casey Reber of Englewood, Colorado, Kristin Reber, Holly Reber, and Nicole Reber, of Auburn, Ks., Adam Reber of Topeka and Jamie Ribera of Marble Falls, Texas, one brother, William Young of Vandalia, Missouri, two sisters, Clara McCoy of Ellsworth, Ks. and Euneva White and her husband Bert of Wichita, Ks., and a host of loving friends who were dear to her and will miss her. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs Reber will lie in state from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. Sunday and the family will receive friends from 2:00 -3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
