Our mother, Opal Freeman, went home to be with her Lord and Savior. We will miss her so much, but we rejoice that she now has a new body and she is walking the streets of pure gold. Opal, 82, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born on August 14, 1925 in Minko, OK, the daughter of Albert Berman and Ella Mae Anthony Garrett. Opal resided in Carlsbad, NM for most of her life prior to moving to Topeka in August of 2007. Survivors include her two children LeRoy Freeman, Topeka; Carolyn Pierce, Danville, Arkansas; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by two sisters; Joy Landis, Plano, TX and LaVora Sanford, Phoenix, AZ. Opal adored her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Zion Cemetery southeast of Topeka.
