Opal "Niki" Greenia, 78, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka.
She was born March 17, 1927 in Hickman, Nebraska the daughter of John and Ruth Heupel Boerrigter.
Opal was a veteran who had served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
She had been a patient of the Colmery-O'Neil Veterans Hospital and in recent years has resided at Providence Living Center where she had many dear friends.
She had been married to Howard Greenia. She was preceded in death by her sister Vera Cook. Survivors include one son and his wife, Dr. Gordon and Danielle Johnston, Richardson, TX; two sisters, Eileen Johnston, Dallas, TX; Mae Anderson, Alcestor, SD; two brothers, Don Boerrigter, Bella Vista, AR; Glenn Boerrigter, Arlington, NE; one nephew, Gary Johnston, Bella Vista, AR; one granddaughter, Bergen Johnston and two grandsons, Grey and Heath Johnston all of Richardson, TX. She was a dearly loved mother, grandmother and sister.
Graveside services will be held 1:30P.M. Friday, June 3, 2005 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. She will lie in state and the family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home.
