Patricia Ethel Sevy (Timms), 73, of Topeka, KS, formerly Independence, MO, passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014. She was born August 30, 1940 in Pilsley, England, the daughter of William and Nancy Timms.
Patricia was raised in England and immigrated to the United States with her family and became a citizen in 1956. Patricia graduated from William Chrisman High School, Independence, MO in 1958 and went on to earn an Associates of Arts degree from Graceland College in 1960. In May 1961, she married Marvin Sevy. The couple moved to Topeka, KS in 1967. Marvin preceded her in death on April 19, 2011.
Patricia operated a home-based daycare center before working as a secretary for the Topeka Public Schools at the Topeka Education Center, Burnett Center, and Holland Center.
Patricia attended the Community of Christ Church. She was a member of the choir, assisted with Vacation Bible School, and helped organize holiday plays and performances. Patricia was an avid actress performing at both the Topeka Civic Theater and Dale Easton's Showcase Theater. She was an honorary member of the National Forensic League at Topeka High School. Patricia was a member and President of the SW Avondale (Shaner) PTA. She was also a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and a Girl Scout Troop Leader for her local chapters.
Patricia is survived by her children, Paul (Gladstone, MO), Laura Kothe (Topeka), and Brian (Kansas City); father William Timms (Independence, MO); brother, Lloyd Timms (Grants Pass, OR); 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial tea is planned for Monday, August 18th from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Snyder's Cabin in Gage Park, Topeka, KS.
