Patricia Magathan
January 31, 1946 — June 23, 2012
Patricia "Patti" Lynn Jones Magathan passed away peacefully on June 23, 2012 at Midland Care Hospice in Topeka, after a short battle with cancer. Patti has been cremated, and a memorial service will be held at the Mausoleum Chapel at Mt. Hope Cemetery on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 2:30pm.
Patti entered this world in San Antonio, TX on January 31, 1946 to parents Scott Dean Jones and Mable Estelle Taylor Jones. She spent her early years in Texas and Florida. The family lived in Wichita two years prior to moving to Topeka. Patti graduated from Washburn Rural High School and Kansas State University. She worked most of her career for Southwestern Bell, retiring in 1998.
Patti was a member of Telephone Pioneers, Shawnee County Extension Master Gardeners, Taking Stock (a women's investment group), as well as serving in various other volunteer capacities. In her spare time, she also owned her own computer business and worked in the I.T. Department at the State Capitol while the Legislature was in session.
Patti is survived by her daughter Jennifer Magathan Sanders (Tommy), grandchildren Morgan and Trey, all of Gainesville GA, her sister Sharon Jones Meyer (Mark) of Westerville, OH,several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Cir. Topeka, Kansas 66606.
