Patricia A. (Chance) Peckenschneider-Miller

Patricia (Pat) Ann Miller, 86, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Homestead of Topeka Assisted Living. The family was blessed to be able to spend time with her during her final days.

Pat was born on August 10, 1934 in Glasco, Kansas to Harold Brit and Rhoda Mae (Banker) Chance. She was a graduate of Beloit High School and Brown Mackie Business College. She attended Washburn University where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.

Pat enjoyed working in many different capacities during her lifetime. One of her most memorable jobs was working in the office of Kansas Governor Fred Hall from 1953-1957 as a member of Hall's Executive Office Team. She went on to work for the Kansas Supreme Court and National Reserve Life Insurance Company before taking time off to have her two children. In 1967 she began a career in banking that spanned over 16 years that included positions at Guaranty State Bank & Trust Co. in Beloit, KS, Silver Lake State Bank and Nekan Bell Credit Union in Topeka. In 1983 she transitioned into real estate and obtained her real estate license. She worked at Town & Country Realtors, Coldwell Banker Griffith & Blair, Kansas Home Mortgage, Inc., Re/Max and finished her career at Reece Nichols. Even in retirement she stayed busy being a member of the Homeowner's Association Board including President at Shadow Wood Condos periodically over 18 years. Pat was someone you could always count on to get the job done and she took great pride in making sure her home and the home of others was well cared for. She was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Topeka and the Topeka Women's Club. She was an avid Topeka Jazz Workshop attendee and enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends.

She is survived by her children, Kurt Peckenschneider of Wichita and Ann (Ron) Shelton of Topeka; two grandchildren, Connor Shelton of Kansas City, MO and Rachel Shelton of Topeka; and a sister, Jean A. Fazio of Louisville, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William S. Chance.

Pat reminded family often that she did not want a memorial service. In order to honor her wishes, a graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Delphos Cemetery in Delphos, KS.
