Patricia McGuire Nunley, 78, passed away on March 29, 2016 after a long battle with lung disease. She was born November 21, 1937 to Fred and Alleine (Vance) McGuire in Ashland, KY. Patricia was a gifted pianist from a very early age and performed as a concert pianist while living in Ashland, KY. She was also a long-time accompanist for the Ashland Community Chorus. After moving to Topeka, KS in 1975, she was a music specialist for the Topeka Public Schools where she delighted in sharing her love of music with her students.
She was a proud member of the Topeka Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution where she served as pianist and state chorus director for many years. She and her husband Glen spent their retirement years travelling the country in their motorhome nicknamed "The Hawkhome" due to their love of KU basketball.
Surviving are her children Mark (Lee Ann) Patrick, Topeka, Kimberly Patrick, Overland Park, KS, and step- daughter Cheryl (Ed) Spears, Ashland, KY. Also surviving are her grandsons Ryan Patrick, Overland Park, and Kai Wandrey, Topeka. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Glen L. Nunley, her parents, sister Peggy McGuire Boggs and stepson Gary Scott Nunley.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Lake Sherwood Clubhouse, 6910 SW Fountaindale Rd, Topeka, Kansas from 3pm to 6pm – please wear the crimson and blue for KU. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in her name to the NSDAR Guardian Trust Campaign, 1776 D Street NW, Washington D.C. 20006-5303.
