Pat Oliver, 61, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at her home. She was born on November 11, 1949 in Topeka, KS to Walter, Sr. and Cornelia (Beard) Long, who proceeded her in death.
Pat attended Highland Park High School and Washburn University. She worked for the federal government for over 30 years before retiring from the Army National Guard after 26 years of service.
Her hobbies included a love for gardening, shopping and especially singing praise to her Lord through various church choirs.
Ms. Oliver is survived by her sons, Dan Oliver, Jr. and Jamin Pitchford both of Topeka, five grandchildren, Chezney Gaston of Topeka, Cyle Childs, Sedalia, MO, Camille Childs, Grandview, MO, Chey-Ann Williams, Richmond, VA, Donicia Vasquez, Topeka, one great grandchild, Jaydyn Boyd, two sisters Winona Major and Kimberly Worford and a brother, Winston Brown all of Topeka. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cornelia Gaston and siblings Nava Long, Walter Long, Jr., Charles Long and Donnie Long.
A funeral ceremony will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel - Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. Burial will follow in the Topeka Cemetery. Ms. Oliver will lie instate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
